
Iris Muis

Iris Muis is an expert in responsible AI and ethical data governance with over 10 years of experience. With a background in law, international relations, and human rights, she leads knowledge valorization and research in digital ethics at Utrecht University’s Data School. Iris co-developed the Data Ethics Decision Aid (DEDA), used by 50+ government organizations, and the Fundamental Rights and Algorithms Impact Assessment (FRAIA), now included in the EU AI Act as Article 27.
She has delivered 50+ talks at international events such as CPDP and Overheid360 and trains professionals on responsible AI and ethical data governance. Iris was a finalist in the Responsible AI for Women in AI Benelux Awards 2024 and is listed among the 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics 2025.
