Data Journalist at Infocom

Katya Mamyan is a data journalist at Infocom, where she leads data-driven investigations and explores how technology and AI can enhance storytelling in small newsrooms. She also teaches Data Journalism at Hetq Media Factory, mentoring students to work with data collection, analysis, and visualization tools in their storytelling.

Katya recently completed The Lede Program at Columbia University, where she studied the most innovative, AI-driven methods in data journalism. At Infocom, her work focuses on integrating AI tools for data analysis, web scraping, and automation — helping journalists without a technical background use advanced methods in their reporting. She’s passionate about showing how new technologies can empower journalists, enhance creativity, and make data-driven storytelling more accessible.
